OFFSHORE TUNA CHARTERS
Our waters off Cape Point are a world class fishery and offer some of the finest tuna fishing in the world.
After leaving Hout Bay you will travel anywhere from 20 to 40 miles offshore searching for the incredibly
strong Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus Albacares) and the Longfin Tuna (Thunnus Alalunga).
The Yellowfin tuna is the strongest fighting fish in the tuna family and is abundant in the warmer months from middle of October to June. They tend to congregate behind fishing trawlers and longliners.
Size ranges from 15 – 90kg with specimens over 100kg being caught every season.
Methods of capture are trolling artificial lures and using bait and chumming. The Longfin tuna is also good fun to catch on lighter tackle using spinners. Skipjack tuna, Dorado, Mako sharks and Blue sharks are also caught in the deep whilst fishing for tuna.
